The Congress

In 2015 the IBF and the SMB (French Balint Society) will organise together a congress in the East of France, in the beautiful City of Metz.  It will take place from Saturday, September, 5th to Wednesday, September, 9th 2015.

We hope that many of you will come and join us from all continents and countries, and from all horizons: Family Physicians and other Physicians, Psychologists and Psychoanalysts, and all other care-givers. We are all really involved in the doctor-patient relationship and we all work together. We also hope to greet many students who represent the future of our Balint societies.

This year theme will be « The importance of the doctor-patient relationship in contemporary health care: the relevance of Balint work. » We will think about the recent changes and the way that Balint group work can find its place in the current health systems, and be available for all care givers.

The official language will be English but we intend to organise some French speaking groups. In plenary sessions we will listen to presentations and discuss them; then we’ll share our work during small Balint group sessions. We’ll also be able to talk with the authors of posters in the hallway and have time for informal conversations.

Once again we hope that you’ll be able to join us and work together under the same « Balint roof » with our national differences but also with all we have in common.

The congress will be held in the Pilâtre de Rozier Residence, Rue Ducrocq in Metz, near hotels and the city centre. We have worked hard to plan an « all inclusive congress ». The fees will include all the Congress sessions and also social activities. Of course you’ll be free to follow the whole programme or not (provided you attend all sessions of your Balint group) but we thought that proceeding this way would make the congress flow easily in a very friendly atmosphere.

We hope that lots of you will join us.
